Swarup Community Eye Care Centre: Outreach |
In our endeavor to reach out to the needy and deprived we
started the Community Ophthalmology Wing where we
routinely do community outreach programs. Our team
of Doctors and Paramedics screen patients at these
camps from various eye problems. We run a Rural
Cataract Program wherein patients having Cataract
who have been screened in these camps can get their
surgery done at our institute on cost. |
We are in the look out for NGOs. Self Help Groups (SHG)
working in the field of ophthalmology or similar
areas to help and support us by partnering us to
reach out to the poor and needy patients. |
Through free Cataract screening camps, medical teams from
hospital reach patients in the rural areas. They work
closely with local community leaders and service groups to
organize the camps. Cataract Screening Camps are conducted
every week of the month. |

Who can sponsor a camp? |
Any individual or social service organization-such as
Rotary, religious group, trusts, rutal services
organization, recreation club, panchayat presidents-untested
in the community welfare may sponsor an eye camp. |
Sponsor’s Role |
The sponsor should play a primary role in setting up the
campsite, arrangement facilities and publicizing the camp.
They are responsible for assembling patients and providing
lodging and food to the medical team. |
How to sponsor a camp? |
A village with a population of at lest thirty to fifty
thousand including the surrounding areas is selected for
conducting a cataract screening camp. A convenient venture
such as a large school building in the area and a suitable
date (which does not interfere with local festivals,
marriages other function or with other camps) will be
selected for conducting the camp. |
