As the name
suggests these are diagnostic procedures where the results
obtained from the tests should be correlated with the
clinical findings. Various references from other Hospitals
are also studied here. |
| |
|
Electro-Retinogram (ERG) -
objective testing done for retinal function
Electro-Oculogram (EOG)
- objective testing done for RPE (retinal pigment
epithelium) function
Visual Evoked Potential (VEP)
- objective measurement of the visual stimulation which
is monitored by visual status
Patients who have congenital defects in retinal components
like rods, cones etc. are usually referred. However for VEP,
malingering cases and cases in which the visual pathway is
affected (e.g. Lesions in the visual pathway) are referred.
Based on the results obtained on the tests individually or,
in some cases, with two tests the results are analyzed and
are correlated with the clinical presentation of the
patient. Based on these findings the Optometrist diagnoses
the case. |
