Low Vision Clinic


Low vision aids (LVA) are special devices used to help the patient with poor vision to utilize the residual vision in a more effective way and in certain cases, improve the vision.

The Clinic helps the patients see the World better with whatever residual vision he has.

The optical aids range from simple magnifiers to telescopes, CCTV and fresnel prisms. The non-optical aids include typoscopes, jumbo watches, jumbo cards etc.

The patients who are referred to the Clinic have congenital or acquired defects when medical or surgical intervention does not help.

In the Clinic, special examination procedures like LVA history, different refraction procedures and acquainting them to various low vision aids are done.

 

The type of the aid to be given is decided based upon the need of the patient and the case presented.

The Clinic also prescribes tinted lenses and other non-optical devices like typosopes, jumbo cards etc. to increase the efficiency of the patient.
